Today, our services are a little bit different to our usual pattern.  Whilst the Sunday nearest 22nd February is traditionally the day on which Scouts celebrate Founder’s’ Day and Guides celebrate Thinking Day, we usually celebrate it on the Fourth Sunday of February when we have our united Family Service.  However, this year, the Archbishop is coming to our group of parishes to administer the Rite of Confirmation on Sunday 28th February 2016, so we have had to move our service for Founder’s Day to Sunday 21st February 2016, which actually is more appropriate as it is the Sunday nearest 22nd February!!!!   22nd February was the birthday of Lord Robert Baden-Powell who founded scouting and his wife Olave who founded guiding. In scouting 22nd February is known as Founder’s Day and in guiding 22nd February is known as Thinking Day.

So, today, we will be jointed by our new Beaver Colony for the first time; by our Cub Pack, by our Scout Troop and by the newly re-opened Venture Scout Unit.

Our service this morning will be led by various members of our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts. All who are current or past members of any Scout Group are invited to wear their neckerchieves (scarves) and to re-affirm their promises.

Please note that there are no 10.00 or 11.30 services today.

There will be tea/coffee after the service in the Monk Gibbon Hall (St Thomas’ Parish Hall).
