Order of Service: Booterstown Parish 200th 27.06.2021

The formal deeds constituting a separate parish of Booterstown out of Donnybrook Parish were registered on 29th June 1821, thereby creating Booterstown Parish.

Whilst we had been thinking of how we would mark this occasion over the past few years, the coronavirus pandemic put all such plans on hold.  However, now that we are back in church we want to mark this significant milestone in the life of our parishes, and will be doing so, at the united service at 10.30 on Sunday 27th June 2021.  This special service will be followed by refreshments outside afterwards.   It will be lovely to come together as a group of parishes and to celebrate this special occasion.

It is the first of a number of special anniversaries over the next few years in our parishes as in 2024, we will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the consecration of St Philip and St James’ Church which took place on 16th May 1824, and the 150th anniversary of the consecration of St Thomas’ Church which took place on 21st December 1874; the 80th anniversary of the uniting of Booterstown and Carysfort Parishes which happened in 1944, and the 25th anniversary of the grouping of Booterstown and Carysfort Parish with Mount Merrion Parish which happened in 1999.

Then in 2026, we will be celebrating the 200th anniversary of the foundation of Booterstown National School.

We are asking people to book in for this special service – please book in by 14.00 hours (2pm) on Friday 25th June 2021 by emailing, texting or phoning the Rector.
