Founder's Day Service for Scouting
St Thomas’ Church, Mount Merrion Co. Dublin

On the fourth Sunday of February, we celebrate scouting and in particular, our parishes’ Scout Group, 25th Dublin (Mount Merrion) at the united service at 10.30 in St Thomas’ Church.

Members of our Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venture Scouts and Ranger Scouts and their leaders will take part in the service.  Lord Robert Baden-Powell who founded scouting was born on 22nd February 1857 and 22nd February each year, all over the world, is celebrated as Founder’s Day for Scouts.  His wife, Lady Olave Baden-Powell was born on 22nd February 1889 and she founded guiding.  22nd February each year, all over the world is celebrated as Thinking Day for Guides.

You are very welcome to this service, whether you are or were part of scouting or not.  If you are or were part of scouting, we invite you to wear your neckerchief (scarf).   Everyone is very welcome at any of our services.

The service will be followed by tea/coffee/juice in the Monk Gibbon Hall.

No 9.30 Holy Communion Service due to Confirmation at 10.30
St Thomas’ Church, Mount Merrion Co. Dublin

Today, the Archbishop of Dublin will be administering the Rite of Confirmation in our group of parishes, at 10.30 in St Philip and St James’ Church.  Therefore, there will not be any service in St Thomas’ Church at 9.30.  However, there will be a short, said service of Holy Communion in St Thomas’ Church at 8.30.

All are welcome to the Confirmation Service at 10.30 in St Philip and St James’ Church and it is important that we support those who, from our parishes are taking this significant step in their journey of faith.
