A Quiet Christmas
St Thomas’ Church, Mount Merrion Co. Dublin

‘A Quiet Christmas’ will be in St Thomas’ Church at 10.00.  This is a service specially designed for those who may want a more meditative approach to Christmas, or who, for differing reasons—possibly bereavement or illness or whatever—may find the ‘razz-ma-tazz’ of Christmas a bit over-powering.  As you might imagine, ‘quiet’ and ‘children’ do not normally go together(!), so we are asking parents NOT to bring their children to this service.

Later this morning, at 11.30, in St Philip and St James’ Church, there will be the all-singing,  all-dancing Christingle Service which is specially designed for children!

Please see the other services that are on today…  8.30 Holy Communion in St Philip and St James’ Church, and 19.00, the Carols by Candlelight in St Thomas’ Church.

Carols by Candlelight
St Thomas’ Church, Mount Merrion Co. Dublin

The ‘Carols by Candlelight’ is a traditional service of nine lessons and carols. In St Philip and St James’ Church, we place lots of candles in the windows and around the sanctuary, and for the Carols by Candlelight, we light all the candles, and each person is also given a candle, so our carols are by candlelight! It is a very special service with a fantastic atmosphere as we hear the story of Christ unfold and sing much-loved and well-known carols. The service alternates year-about between St Thomas’ Church and St Philip and St James’ Church and this year is being held in St Thomas’ Church.

Afterwards, everyone is invited to mulled wine – with a non-alcoholic mulled wine option so you can drive home – and mince pies, in theMonk Gibbon Hall (St Thomas’ Parish Hall), in the grounds of St Thomas’ Church. As with all our services, all are welcome.
