A Quiet Christmas
St Thomas’ Church, Mount Merrion Co. Dublin

This service will be live-streamed on www.churchmedia.tv/mtmerrioncoi

Order of Service:

This service is especially designed for those who, for a variety of reasons – illness, grief, etc – may want a quieter, more reflective service at Christmas time.  In some churches, it is called  Blue Christmas.

As this is a quiet and reflective service, we ask people not to bring their children to this service and to take them to the Christingle Service which will be in St Philip and St James’ Church this morning at 11.00.

A Quiet Christmas is followed by tea/coffee/juice in the Monk Gibbon Hall.

Order of Service:

This is an all-singing, all-dancing celebration of the old Moravian custom of Christingle!    The Christingle is an orange representing the world, with a candle in it representing Christ as the light of the world.  It has a red ribbon around its circumference reminding us that Christ died for us and there a sticks with jelly-tots on them representing the produce of the world.

Parents/grandparents/guardians – please note that you must accompany your child(ren) to collect their Christingles and be vigilant to ensure that they and everyone else is safe.

Carols by Candlelight

Order of Service:

This is a Christmas BIG SING!

All the favourite, traditional carols!

And in addition to the carols, we have the readings from Scripture telling the story of God’s promise to humanity and its fulfillment in Jesus Christ.

Afterwards, everyone is warmly invited to mulled wine (non-alcoholic, so you can drive home safely!) and mince pies!

The collection will be in aid of Protestant Aid which is the Church of Ireland version of St Vincent de Paul and which helps people of all faiths and none.
